I am delighted to have had the opportunity to make your acquaintance.  My name is Anastasia Chow.  Friends and colleagues have chosen to call me simply as Ana, so henceforth Ana I shall be known to you.

Statistics has entered my life early, yet it had begun to claim a strong hold in my life when I took up this regional role within the Consumer Credit Risk department of HSBC more than 12 years ago.  My job is to look after the portfolio risk of the retail products of HSBC in the Asia Pacific region.  That includes leading a team of credit risk professionals who are also proficient in statistics and skilled in analytics; to observe and profile customer behaviour; to predict and project future profitability, and then base on those learning and prediction to develop and apply credit risk strategies for the existing HSBC customers throughout the ASP region.  The observing, modeling, application and learning process is a never ending experience that evolves and improves over time, through us champion/challenging status-quo strategies.  Statistics IS and DOES play an integral and indispensable part in this evolving process.  My thanks goes to what I have learnt, and to those who had helped me to learn, from the Master of Statistics course in HKU.

As for leisure, I like listening to, and dancing upon hearing, music, but most important of all I like reading books.  Music makes even my strategies rhythmic.  Books bring me to a land of eternal happiness!
